Forschungszulage – FoU-skattefradrag

Germany's R&D tax incentive, and the counterpart to Norwegian SkatteFUNN. Open to anyone with tax residency in Germany, regardless of size, corporate form and sector — including foreign-owned German subsidiaries. The certificate can cover previous years, the current year and up to three future financial years. New from 2026: 20 % flat rate for indirect costs, and the hourly rate for owner work raised from 70 to 100 euros (max 40 hours per week).

1. Describe the idea. Company name and a few sentences about the project — registration number and sector are fetched from the registry.
2. Check your chances. Granteon assesses the project against the criteria in Forschungszulage – FoU-skattefradrag and tells you honestly whether it can be won — before you write.

How much can you get from Forschungszulage – FoU-skattefradrag?

Up to €4 200 000. Funding rate: 25 % of the base, and 35 % for SMEs requesting the supplement. The base is limited to 12 million euros per year for costs after 31.12.2025..

When is the application deadline?
