Budget of £2 million including VAT. Phase 1 is industrial research for up to three months; phase 2 with a prototype will come as a separate future call. Note that this is a CONTRACT, not a grant — you deliver an R&D service and invoice for it. Open to companies of all sizes, including EU/EEA and international, but the majority of the work and funds must be located in the United Kingdom. One legal entity, no consortium requirement.
From idea to completed grant — five steps
- Describe the idea. Company name and a few sentences about the project — registration number and sector are fetched from the registry.
- Check your chances. Granteon assesses the project against the criteria in Contracts for Innovation – Battery innovation for dual use and defence and tells you honestly whether it can be won — before you write.
- Write the application. The AI writes from your own facts, scores the draft like an award committee, and delivers it field by field within the portal's character limits.
- Complete the financing. Your own contribution is calculated. You can obtain a signed conditional commitment from an investor, and find consortium partners when the call requires them.
- Deliver and report. Reporting plan, draft reports and budget tracking after the award — until the final report is filed.
